Catalog description

This course offers a general introduction to Jewish biblical interpretation, with special emphases on ideological commitments, communal functions, and interpretive methods. Similarities and differences with modes of Christian exegesis will be considered. Possible contemporary applications will be explored. Prerequisite: BITH 211 or BITH 221 or BITH 312 or ARCH 211 and BITH 213 or ARCH 213 .
