Catalog description

Readings and discussions on the task of biblical interpretation and theological reflection in the context of World Christianity. The course will focus on emerging theological trends and survey contemporary developments in regions such as Africa, Asia and Latin America. The topics covered will include Majority World hermeneutics, comparative analysis with Western biblical and theological traditions, and an introduction to parallel trends in North America like Latino/a, African American, Asian American, or Native American Christian theologies. Course is offered occasionally. Prerequisites: BITH 211 and BITH 213 or BITH 315 or BITH 318 or BITH 374 .
