Catalog description
This course will provide a foundation to understand the connected relationships among community and health outcomes and evidence -based interventions to improve health. This includes an overview of the structure and role of community health agencies and national governance in public health. Additional components include factors impacting health such as the health disparities & socioeconomic challenges, culture, the environment, societal systems (healthcare, government and non governmental organizations, schools, workplaces), and program development (theory) related to dif ferent concerns along the lifespan. There will be an emphasis on school health as it relates to a community system and public health sector. A service -learning project will be part of this course to assess, develop, and implement a community health project.
