Catalog description

This course provides an in-depth exploration of essential clinical skills for occupational therapy practice, emphasizing hands-on, evidenced-based techniques. Students will learn and practice foundational clinical skills needed to assess safety, environment, and clinical presentation that affects the planning of patient-specific therapeutic interventions. Students will also develop proper body mechanics and handling techniques for transfers, mobility, and ADL occupations. Additional topics will include vital signs, infection control, prostheses and virtual environments. 2 hours of lecture and one 2-hour laboratory period per week.
