The course examines the history of the Cuban Revolution including its causes since the colonial and republican periods, the events that led to its victory during the 1950s and the main political, social, legal and economic reforms under the leadership of Fidel Castro and his successors, until today. The course explores the social transformations in revolutionary Cuba, including migrations, the regional and global impact of the socialist Revolution in the context of the Cold War, and the crisis of the regime since the decade of the 1990s.
