Catalog description

With advances in medical science, people are living longer, often with chronic diseases that may impact quality of life. This course will explore numerous issues facing older adults and their families as they cope with chronic and life-limiting illness. It will discuss long-term care systems, policies, and environments for older adults who require additional medical, physical, and social support. It will also include assessment and intervention of healthcare teams (e.g., social workers, psychologists, nurses). Students will examine cutting edge research and analyze their belief systems regarding these topics.
