Introduction to ASL Linguistics II

Catalog description

This course provides comprehensive study of syntactic structure, semantic meaning, and sociolinguistic variation in American Sign Language. Students will examine word order, lexical categories, sentence types, clause structure, and the interaction between syntax and semantics. The course also explores sociolinguistic factors affecting language variation and change within Deaf communities, including regional variation, language contact, and discourse analysis strategies.
