This course emphasizes the development of a strong theoretical or conceptual framework and the ability to critically analyze and synthesize existing research. Students will engage with scholarly literature related to their chosen topic to identify emerging themes, highlight research gaps, and justify the need for further study. DOC 901-904 Dissertation Course Block These courses are designed to guide candidates through the dissertation process, with a focus on completing and defending an original research project. The Dissertation Block progresses through four courses: DOC 901 is focused on the prospectus and completion of Chapters 1 and 2, with dedicated attention to incorporating Chair and Writing Center feedback. DOC 902 is centered on Chapter 3 and the Proposal Review Committee process, with continued emphasis on Writing Center feedback. DOC 903 includes the preliminary defense, CITI/IRB application, development of Chapter 4, and data analysis. DOC 904 focuses on Chapter 5, committee feedback, formatting, library review, and the final defense. Across these courses, candidates will synthesize research findings, draw conclusions, and articulate implications for practice, culminating in a successful final defense that demonstrates original research and scholarly expertise. DRP 901-904 Doctoral Research Project The Doctoral Research Project (DRP) course block is designed to guide candidates through the doctoral research project process, with a focus on completing and defending an applied research project. The DRP Block progresses through four courses: DRP 901 requires approval of the prospectus and completion of the project description and literature review (Section 1). DRP 902 focuses on the research process (Section 2) and approval by the Institutional Review Board (IRB). DRP 903 focuses on data collection and the analysis of findings, including your presentation on how they can be applied to a specific discipline and/or industry (Section 3). DRP 904 requires successful completion of Section 3, including the final project and presentation, as well as committee feedback and library review. Throughout these courses, candidates will synthesize research findings, articulate implications for practice, and demonstrate scholarly expertise through a successful final project and presentation with dedicated attention to incorporating Chair and Writing Center feedback. Successful completion of the DRP course block will demonstrate readiness to contribute to the field as a scholar-practitioner and ensures your research project meets all academic and institutional requirements.
