PR: MAE 120 and MAE 201 and MAE 454 and MATH 261 . Overview of numerical methods and engineering simulations, including finite element and finite volume methods. Introduction to fundamentals of derivations, formulations, solution procedures and types of approximations. General simulation procedures and sources of error. Applications to structural mechanics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer using commercial codes. Multidisciplinary and multiscale simulations.
