Catalog description

This course examines the role of fire as a natural process shaping ecosystems. Students explore fire history, the combustion process and fire behavior, and effects on soil, water, vegetation, climate, and human systems. Through scientific readings and peer discussions, students critically evaluate ecological, economic and cultural impacts of fire.
