PR: Must be at least sophomore standing. This course examines the role of fire as a natural process shaping ecosystems. Students explore fire history, the combustion process and fire behavior, and effects on soil, water, vegetation, climate, and human systems. Through peer discussion, students critically evaluate ecological, economic, and cultural impacts of fire.
