Catalog description

This course introduces the principles of wildland fire management, including fire behavior, prevention, detection, suppression, and prescribed burning. Students examine how fuels, weather, topography, and the wildland–urban interface affect fire dynamics, while learning about fire-fighting logistics and tools in various scenarios. Through case studies of wildfire tragedies, students also explore safety, policy, and economic aspects of fire management.
