This course examines the structure and function of forest ecosystems, emphasizing their critical role from global to local scales. Students explore forests’ capacity in climate regulation, the spatial variability from boreal to tropical forests, temporal changes following disturbances like fire or invasives, and forest species interactions such as symbioses, competition, and herbivory.
