The history, philosophy, and processes of the juvenile justice system are studied. The juvenile court’s jurisdiction over juvenile delinquency, status offenses, and abuse and neglect is examined. Topics include juvenile rights, types of juvenile correctional institutions and community based correctional alternatives for juveniles.
