Individual Counseling Skills and Practice with Immersive I

Catalog description
This course is designed to help students learn about foundational counseling skills. Students will gain information and practice opportunities related to active listening, empathy, unconditional positive regard, etc. The associated Immersive I experience affords students the opportunity to practice basic counseling skills to include active listening, paraphrasing of content, and reflection of feeling, etc. Students receive one-on-one feedback from their faculty member related to their development of basic skills. In addition, students are assessed on their dispositions using the Key Professional Dispositions (KPD) form. Course delivery methods for teaching and learning include online, blended, and face to face modalities.
