Catalog description

Elective course that provides advanced knowledge and skills for students who have a desire to pursue orthopedic physical therapy. Builds on previously acquired knowledge gathered in the program and focuses on advanced topics in orthopedic examination and intervention. Allows students to perform a variety of manual therapy and therapeutic exercise techniques, including neurodynamic mobilization, joint mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, muscle performance training, and motor control training techniques and will provide students with a thorough understanding of modern pain science and the psychosocial implications of acute and chronic pain conditions. Increases awareness of advanced orthopedic examination and intervention techniques and pain science and the application to physical therapy management within a patient-centered biopsychosocial framework.
