Catalog description

This course focuses on Ayres Sensory Integration (ASI) theory, evaluation, assessment, and intervention as applied in occupational therapy practice. The course promotes student learning of ASI frame of reference (FOR) to enrich the occupational performance and participation of individuals with a variety of disabilities across the lifespan by focusing on the neurobiological, sensory, and praxis foundations of occupation. Advanced knowledge, clinical reasoning, and practice skills necessary to implement ASI FOR in evaluation and treatment of clients to address participation restrictions that result from challenges in sensory processing and integration are developed in the course. In addition, this course incorporates ASI evidence-based practice and applies ASI knowledge to a variety of clinical and community practice settings.
