Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Clinical Practicum II
West Chester University of Pennsylvania · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This 189-hour precepted clinical practicum builds upon foundational skills developed in NSG 576 , providing students with opportunities to manage increasingly complex psychiatric-mental health cases across the lifespan. Students apply theoretical knowledge, diagnostic reasoning, and psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacologic interventions with greater autonomy and clinical judgment. Emphasis is placed on integrative treatment approaches, ethical decision-making, interprofessional collaboration, and leadership in patient-centered mental health care. Clinical experiences may focus on any age group across the lifespan depending on the student’s clinical placement and learning needs. Students are expected to demonstrate increasing independence and clinical judgment consistent with an advanced level PMHNP student.
