Catalog description

This course covers music fundamentals and is designed for music enthusiasts with limited formal training. Throughout the semester students will explore these fundamentals from both traditional and progressive angles. Studies will involve not only Western art music (Classical music) but also a variety of popular and contemporary examples. They will explore various ways to notate rhythm, melody, and harmony. Creativity and composition are crucial. Students should keep an open mind and be ready to create sounds, share opinions, and listen to music from a wide range of styles and genres. For non-music majors only.
