Catalog description

To continue to build communication skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing German as well as cultural literacy on contemporary literature, film, and culture. By the end of the semester, students should be able to communicate in complex sentences using subjunctive II and subjunctive I, the passive voice in all tenses, relative clauses, and adjective endings on topics related to the readings and film and television screenings on twentieth and twenty-first century German-language literature, film, and culture. In order to achieve these goals, students are expected to attend class regularly, study German at least one hour per day, and participate in class. It can be helpful to study with a partner or in a group. This course is contextualized around the theme of Viennese cultural identity.
