Catalog description

In this course, participants will acquire knowledge in fostering literacy development for PreK-8 students. The primary focus will be on instructing reading through a comprehensive methodology rooted in diverse theoretical teaching models (including structured literacy, critical literacy, and culturally responsive pedagogy) derived from current research. By engaging with readings, video lectures, and interactive modules, students will build a solid foundation in the following key literacy domains: phonological and phonemic awareness, phonics, word study, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and writing. Furthermore, participants will explore evidence-based practices and practical application of the language arts.
