Catalog description

The course is designed to introduce a variety of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies (e.g., high-technology devices such as speech-generating computers and software programs and low-technology systems such as picture exchange communication) for limited or non-speaking people to undergraduate students. Students will explore the Total Communication approach - an approach to Deaf Education addressing a variety of modes of communication such as signed, oral, auditory, written and visual aids - while considering limited or non-speaking individuals.
