Catalog description

The goal of this class is to learn the basics and intermediates of Information Visualization (Info Vis). Students will learn how Info Vis can be used to make sense of the data using visual representation and analytical processing. It will also help students to learn how visual representations and human visual perception system is related. In the class, students will be using real-world large and complex datasets. Students will learn how different visualization techniques, such as symbolic, tabular, networked, hierarchical, and textual data visualization can help us to uncover different types of information. In this class, students will learn existing and new Info Vis techniques and systems, so that they can design new visualization techniques for real-world applications.
