Catalog description

This course explores how personal and collective identities are constructed, contested, and performed rhetorically through symbolic communication. The intersections of power and identity categories such as race, class, gender, and sexuality may be addressed. Students will examine the relationship between rhetoric and identity in a variety of contexts that may include (but are not limited to) politics, popular culture, sports, public memory, digital/social media, or everyday life.
