Catalog description

The purpose of this course is to survey and study the important and seminal works of choral literature, from the Renaissance to the present day. Emphasis is placed on historical trends, stylistic developments, genres of choral music, and important composers. At the conclusion of this course, students should have gained a perspective on this vast literature, in addition to having gained special knowledge of several different works that they have studied in more depth.
