MECH 3100
ENGINEERING FLUID MECHANICS
Wentworth Institute of Technology · UGRD · Fall 2026
1 section
Catalog description
This course introduces the fundamental principles of fluid mechanics, focusing on fluid properties, hydrostatics, and basic hydrodynamics. Students apply conservation laws of mass, momentum and energy to analyze fluid behavior using the control volume approach. External flows are discussed, with emphasis on drag forces and boundary-layer phenomena. Laboratory activities (including experiments and data analysis) provide hands-on experiences that reinforce theoretical knowledge. Prerequisite: MATH2025 and MECH2250 (4 credits) fall, spring
