Catalog description

This course presents fundamental topics in thermo-fluid science: heat, work, energy and power. Properties of simple substances are studied in the context of thermodynamic analysis of processes and cycles for power production and refrigeration. System and control volume modeling is introduced using conservation of mass, as well as the First and Second Laws of Thermodynamics. Combustion analysis is also discussed. Prerequisites: MATH1876 ; and PHYS1250 (4 credits) fall, spring
