Catalog description

This course covers topics in hardware and software development for embedded systems. Hardware digital circuits are developed with high-level synthesis employing a hardware description language (HDL) for field programmable gate arrays (FPGA). Software programs are developed for microprocessor modules running a Linux operating system. The course explores theory and techniques to have embedded systems obtain input from sensors, control actuators, run algorithms, and transfer information using communication protocols with other devices and web servers. Students are expected to have prior knowledge of digital circuits and computer program development. (3 credits) summer
