ELECTRICIAL FUNDAMENTALS FOR ROBOTICS

Catalog description
This course introduces students to analog and digital electronics, including their application to sensors and actuators for robotic applications. Topics include operational amplifiers, linear integrated circuits, diodes, complex impedance, filters, and signal conditioning. The theory and utility of binary arithmetic, combinational logic (Boolean algebra, truth tables, Karnaugh maps), and sequential logic (flip-flops, timing diagrams, memory, state machines) are evaluated. Laboratory modules and projects cover the analysis, design, modeling, simulation, and implementation of circuits to process inputs from sensors and output to actuators as would be applied in a robotic system. Prerequisite: ELEC2300 OR ELEC2250 (4 credits)
