This course provides a comprehensive overview of multimedia news editing, focusing on the skills and techniques required to craft accurate, engaging, and impactful stories across digital platforms. Students will learn the fundamentals of editing for clarity, coherence, and credibility, along with advanced techniques for adapting content to various multimedia formats such as video, audio, photography, and interactive graphics. Key topics include copyediting, fact-checking, headline writing, and editorial decision-making, as well as technical skills in video editing, photo editing, and audio mixing using industry-standard software. The course will emphasize ethical considerations, cultural sensitivity, and the responsibilities editors have in shaping news narratives. Prerequisite : JOUR 1030 and JOUR 2140 or permission of the instructor.
