Introduction to Music Recording

Catalog description

This course provides students with an introduction to modern studio multitrack recording techniques and practices. First, students will examine individual instruments and various microphone techniques in the studio setting. Later, students will work with groups of instruments, expanding to deal with issues of isolation and ensemble. Additional topics include subjective analysis of microphone techniques, blending and balancing various instrument combinations and familiarity with musical genres. Prerequisites : AUDI 1121 and AUDI 1131.
