Catalog description
Introduces the fundamentals of the finite element methods. Beginning with simple one-dimensional problems, continuing to two- and three-dimensional problems, and ending with applications in heat transfer and solid mechanics. Covers modeling, mathematical formulation, and computer implementation. Course equivalent to: M E 478. Prerequisite: a minimum grade of 2.0 in TME 311 and a minimum grade of 2.0 in TME 315.
