Violence and the Law

Catalog description

Focuses on violence and law, particularly as to how law defines, promotes, and responds to violence. It will orient students to social theories of violence through which the relationship between violence and law can be explored and survey a few topics to explore the boundaries of private - public and legitimized - delegitimized violences to develop a critical understanding of how law interacts with violence. Course overlaps with: LSJ 375/SOC 372.
