Develops basic writing, reporting, and editing practices for newspaper or magazine publication. Journalism writing produced individually or collaboratively may include photography cutlines, blog posts, investigative projects, feature stories, social media content, and other non-fiction works. Covers meta-issues and cultural context, including ethics, law, history, ownership, critique, and wire-service style. Recommended: BIS 179.
