Catalog description

Introduces a cultural studies and ethnic studies approach to race and the politics of sport with a particular focus on the figure of the athlete as a site of struggle and possibility. Approaches sport through popular culture and scholarship as an important site for the reproduction and contestation of race, gender, sexuality, labor, identity, belonging, and value in both the US and global contexts.
