Math 583: Understanding Information - Mathematics, Physics, and Computation.  Information theory in the context of inference from data focussing on three broad problems: 1) Sets from Samples; 2) Dynamics from Measurements; and 3) Extracting Information from Signals. Students must take both this 3-credit course and the corresponding Physics 581 computational lab which will be integrated with and immediately follow the course.
