Catalog description

This is the first of two radiographic exposure courses. This course introduces the student to the fundamentals of X-ray exposure, anatomy and physiology of the X-ray tube, principles of X-ray production, interactions between X-rays and matter, and basic radiographic quality. This course provides the student with the prerequisite knowledge (cognitive domain) base required prior to operating the radiographic equipment in the clinical setting. This course presents the student with the study of Image Receptors, automatic exposure control, scattered radiation, and devices used to improve radiographic quality including stationary and moving grids, anode heel effect, and compensating filters.
