Catalog description

Introduces students to the principles and practices of engineering modeling and technical communication. The course emphasizes the development of both 2D drafting skills using AutoCAD and 3D parametric modeling using SolidWorks, in alignment with ASME Y14.5 standards. Students will learn to create orthographic, auxiliary, and sectional views; produce detailed drawings with proper dimensioning and tolerancing; and design assemblies complete with bills of materials. The course also integrates freehand sketching to enhance visualization and design communication skills, and prepares students for the Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) credential.
