Catalog description

Introduction to the teaching profession and college education program. This course explores the purposes organizations, and outcomes of schooling from the perspectives of the field of social foundations of education. The focus of the course revolves around four themes: aims of education and role of schools in democratic society, economic legal and political context of schools, culturally responsive and inclusive education, and ethics and professionalization. These themes will be examined through selected readings and discussions. Professional portfolios will be started and transfer options discussed. TAG-OED007
