Catalog description

This course uses the OSI and TCP layered models of computer networks to examine the nature and roles of protocols and services at various layers. The principles and structure of IP addressing and the fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations are introduced. Labs will allow students to analyze protocols and network operations, build small networks, apply basic cabling principles, and perform basic configurations of network devices such as routers, switches, and implementation of IP addressing schemes.
