Catalog description
Students will learn about the role community journalism and local news reporting plays in promoting civic engagement, informing local citizens, and encouraging democracy. Students will report and write human-interest stories that paint a fuller picture of the people and places that make up the local community. Students will also identify and evaluate stories, as both a media consumer and producer, that highlight problems and solutions concerning the issues of diversity, equality, and human rights that affect the local community. Prerequisites: MM 403 or EN 300 or EN 308 or EN 312 or Consent
