Elementary Statistics

Catalog description
This course is an introduction to the basic concepts of probability and statistics and is applicable to all disciplines. Topics include graphical and numerical representations of data, normal distributions, confidence intervals and hypotheses testing for a single parameter, statistical inference, and linear regression. Not open to students with credit in MA 140 . There is no prerequisite for this course. Students who do not meet one of the Kansas Board of Regents placement measures must enroll in a section with additional co-requisite support. The placement measures are as follows: Math ACT: 19 or higher OR Math SAT: 510 or higher OR ALEKS PPL: 30 or higher OR Accuplacer QAS: 255 or higher OR GED® Math Score: 160 or higher OR HS GPA and Course Grade: 3.00 cumulative GPA (unweighted) and C- or higher in Second Semester Algebra 2 or Integrated Math 3 OR Washburn University MA 112 or MA 113 Placement Exam Score of 50% or higher
