Race and the Law

This course explores the concept of race and civil rights issues from a multiracial perspective and examines anti-discrimination laws in such areas as interracial marriage, public accommodations, housing, education, employment and voting. Major institutions studied include courts and legislatures at both the state and federal levels, with particular emphasis placed on the role of these institutions in the preclusion and allowance of political, social and economic opportunities for racial and ethnic minorities.
