Catalog description

This course covers various legal research tools, tactics, and strategies beyond those introduced in the first-year LARW classes with a particular focus on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in legal research. The course will be taught as a simulation, with students serving in the role of associate attorneys assisting with research in a hypothetical legal matter. Students will use AI tools to craft a preliminary research memo, then learn techniques for verifying the accuracy of the AI's research. Students will learn to more effectively use common research tools (e.g., Westlaw, Lexis) and will be introduced to other resources that may be new to them (Library catalogs, HeinOnline, numerous other research databases, free online tools, books, etc.).
