Catalog description

This class is an introduction into the broad, yet very specific practice area of animal law. The course begins with an introduction to animal law and its history, an overview of potential careers specializing in animal law, and how attorneys advocate for animals as clients. The course includes a discussion of federal, state, and local law with an emphasis on Missouri and Kansas; case law on hot topics; and the philosophy and emerging legal advocacy as it relates to animals, with an emphasis on the intersectionality of social justice and animal welfare issues.
