Catalog description

This course emphasizes knowledge concerning organizational theory and governance structures in the sport and recreation industries. Students will be introduced to various theories on the nature and scope of sports and recreation organizations, as well as to the different types of governing bodies in these industries. The course will cover topics such as organizational theory, administrative principles, policies and procedures, enforcement, communication, and governance structures, ranging from the youth/community level to the international level. This class will be conducted using lectures, discussions, and group work. Prerequisites: Junior standing or consent of instructor.
