Human Sexuality Across the Lifespan

Catalog description

This course provides an interdisciplinary overview of the physiological, psychological, and social aspects of human sexuality across the lifespan. Topics include reproductive physiology; biological, psychological, and social influences on sexual development; sexual behaviors; values and decision-making; family planning; the dynamics of intimate and family relationships; and the role of families, education, and other systems in promoting sexual well-being. Emphasis is placed on recognizing healthy and unhealthy sexual relationships, understanding risk and protective factors that influence sexual well-being across the lifespan, and applying evidence-informed approaches used in sexuality education, family life education, and health and human service contexts. Prerequisites: None.
