Section information text: This is a foundation course designed to provide students with an overview of the professional social worker¿s role in the development, delivery, and implementation social welfare policies, programs, and services in the U.S. The course explores the history of social welfare and current policies and programs including those addressing poverty, healthcare (including mental health), child welfare, and disabilities. Students will develop policy knowledge and skills to assist them in influencing policy development.
