Section information text: This foundation course is designed to develop students' understanding of the importance of research to social work practice. Students are introduced to basic principles of scientific method including quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research. While exploring the research process, they analyze associated ethical and cultural considerations, evaluate existing literature, and build a research proposal on a topic of interest. This is the first of two courses designed to prepare students as scholar-practitioners who use research to inform their ethical, culturally competent social work practice.
