Section information text: This course is designed to provide students with an overview of the theories and intervention methods for social work practice. Students explore the theoretical constructs and applications of various approaches to working with clients. The strengths-based and person-in-environment perspectives, ecological systems theory, problem-solving skills, and person-centered methods are emphasized. Students focus on the importance of choosing approaches that are compatible with the client system¿s cultural and ethnic background. Students should be able to integrate multiple sources of knowledge and models to interview, assess, and respond empathetically when working with individuals, families, and groups.
